The municipal museum of Loulé is installed in two former dependencies of Alcaidaria (Alcaide - Magistrate of noble origin, appointed by the king, who played military functions in a city or town council) of Loulé Castle, dating back to the fourteenth century. Shows archaeological finds ranging from the prehistoric period to the Middle Ages, through the Roman periods, Roman-Visigothic and Islamic.

Two cores comprise this museum, archeology and the exhibition 'Traditional Cuisine'.
