Lagoa

Lagoa is a small town, capital of the smallest municipality of Algarve (89km ²) and ~23,000 inhabitants spread over several villages.

Due to its geographical limitations, Lagoa has invested heavily in the tourism industry at the shoreline. Shoreline that can be confidently assert as one of the most beautiful of the Algarve, with beaches between jagged cliffs and crystal clear waters.

In recent years, the municipality of Lagoa has invested in recovering its historical heritage in an attempt to claim its own identity that actually only happened in 1773. Lagoa was a village until April 2001, when it became a city.

The beautiful coastline of the municipality is speckled with golf courses, hotels and holidays villas. The small settlements were swallowed by tourism development that the locals took into their advantage.

We emphasize that Lagoa is the region of Algarve that produces the best wine and the village of Porches is well known for the quality and beauty of their pottery.
